Manhattan Theatre Club (MTC), a Tony Award-winning nonprofit theatre dedicated to the production of contemporary plays and musicals, seeks a full time staff member to work with the Artistic Director and Associate Artistic Director on producing MTC’s theatrical season.

For over fifty years, MTC has been the creative and artistic home for America’s most gifted theatrical artists, producing works of the highest quality by American and international playwrights.  We are strongly committed to producing work that is made by, and tells the stories of, a wide range of voices from all walks of life and to making that work accessible to all audiences including those that have historically lacked access to the arts and cultural sector. MTC produces up to eight plays annually in Broadway’s restored Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on West 47th Street and Off-Broadway at the historic NY City Center complex on West 55th Street.

This position reports to the Associate Artistic Director and works closely with the Artistic Director to execute MTC’s artistic vision and to produce the highest quality of new work on all their stages. They will manage MTC’s about eight productions on and off-Broadway from the moment of commitment through the show’s run.

In collaboration with the Artistic Director and Associate Artistic Director, this staff member will: work with artists through MTC’s producing process, including recommending and assembling creative teams; work with General Management and Production to devise and enforce project parameters; participate in building and executing production budgets, contracts and schedules, and troubleshoot issues when necessary.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

· Managing artists

· Disseminating information

· Problem-solving

· Managing many logistics for each project

· Supporting the marketing and communications team in the developing and execution of production specific messaging

· Attending previews, including tech notes sessions; production meetings; press events; some performances; MTC readings and workshops; and any other events as required

· Helping to identify fundraising partners for many productions

· Representing MTC at occasional public-facing events

· Helping to produce Beyond the Stage content

· Shepherding some developmental projects

· Participating in some programming conversations and coverage

· Executing other special projects and duties as required by the Artistic Director and Associate Artistic Director

The ideal candidate has significant experience in theatre production, including on both plays and musicals; excellent interpersonal, organizational, project management, written and verbal communication skills; absolute attention to detail; the ability to think proactively and stay on top of multiple shifting priorities; the ability to problem solve while remaining calm under pressure; a passion for relationship-building; strong analytical skills; integrity and discretion; demonstrated expertise in financial management with experience in budget creation and oversight; proven ability to work flexibly under pressure, to prioritize and to meet deadlines. A comfort with public speaking is a plus. Also required are a good sense of humor and the ability to thrive while working under pressure in a fast-paced environment, where no two days are the same. At least 5-10 years of previous industry experience is required. Comprehensive knowledge of MS Word, Excel and Outlook is a plus.

This is a full-time, salaried position with a salary range of $90,000 - $100,000 annually. Salary and title will be commensurate with experience with full benefits package including: group health insurance with options for spousal, family and/or domestic partner coverage, voluntary dental coverage, basic life and long term disability insurance, paid time off and optional 401(K) and flex savings plans for healthcare, dependent care and commuting expenses.
