DESCRIPTION

Let Me Call You Sweetheart - A short film by Ben McCall

THE FILM:
A tense psychological thriller about loyalty, power dynamics, masculinity, and willful ignorance of the truth. The tone of this film lives in the tradition of genre action/thriller films, aligning closely with films such as Mission: Impossible. Performances will be theatrical and intense, juxtaposed by the final scene where all three characters ironically dance together in harmony.

LOGLINE:
When a peace-making small-time criminal is sent by his domineering mentor to broker a high-stakes deal with a reclusive inventor, the truth about his friend’s past surfaces, forcing him to choose between loyalty and violence.

CHARACTERS:

HARRY HART
Lead. Early 30s, male. Athletic. Soft-hearted and impressionable, yet resourceful and determined to prove himself to his domineering friend. Though whole-heartedly believing he is on the right path, Harry finds himself falling deeper into an evil world, powered by his own willful ignorance.

Dance experience required, tap experience preferred. Staged combat experience highly preferred.

Special scenes: Hand-to-hand staged combat, dance number (incl. tap).

TODD THOMASON

Supporting. Mid 40s-50s, male. Semi-athletic. An exuberant and strong-headed criminal who exudes confidence. Todd is a friendly man, but will say whatever must be said, and do whatever must be done to get his way.

Dance experience required, tap experience preferred.

Special scenes: Dance number (incl. tap).

DOMINIC DRISCOLL

Supporting. Late 30s-40s, male. Rigid, but surprisingly athletic. Dominic is an intelligent inventor with a gentle exterior, but when under pressure, an aggressive, unyielding side emerges. He wants to give the benefit of the doubt, but has been hurt too many times for this to be an option.

Dance experience required, tap experience preferred. Staged combat experience highly preferred.

Special scenes: Hand-to-hand staged combat, dance number (incl. tap), simulated death.

THE LOGISTICS:

The listed dates are the dates of production, March 21st-23rd. All roles are very involved. All three will require scene rehearsals and dance rehearsals in the weeks leading up to the shoot, and HARRY & DOMINIC will require a fight scene rehearsal the weekend prior to the shoot (March 14 or 15) with our stunt coordinator.

All roles unpaid.
