Kurt Zischke will succeed Scott Wakefield as the Disc Jockey. The limited engagement of the new play — by and starring Lori Fischer — is scheduled to play nine weeks through Sept. 30.
Fischer portrays seven eccentric characters in Barbara’s Blue Kitchen, which is set in a local diner in Tennessee run by Barbara Jean. The production boasts 12 original songs.
Performer-playwright Lori Fischer created the role of Lee in the musical Cowgirls and the role of Mary in the Westbeth Theatre Center’s production of The Life. She has also appeared in mountings of Talley’s Folly, Steel Magnolias and Violet. A published songwriter, she penned the top 40 country hit "It’s Easy for You" and the children’s CD/video "Pat the Bunny Sing With Me!"
Kurt Zischke's New York credits include A Doll’s House, Buddy, George Abbott’s Broadway, Three Sisters, Antigone, The Beaux’ Strategem, King Lear, The Cincinnati Saint and Ulyssess In Nighttown.
