Off-Broadway's Red Bull Theater continues its 20th anniversary festival April 23 with the New York premiere of Bill Cain's thriller God's Spies.
Held on William Shakespeare's 460th birthday, the play expands upon the 1603 plague pandemic which shuttered London's theatres, and the theoretical ripple effect his experiences during that shutdown had on his artistry.
The one-night-only production, directed by Nathan Winkelstein, stars Zainab Jah, Zachary Lopez Roa, and Nick Westrate.
Said Red Bull founder and artistic director Jesse Berger in a previous statement, “Bill Cain has taken an interesting historical footnote and turned it into an insightful and passionate thriller. I can’t wait to hear it aloud with this crackerjack cast, and you will be glad if you can be there too!”
