You wait ages for an American star, and then a hundred all turn up together — or so it seems as yet another Hollywood hunk is announced for the West End.
In this case, there are two — Woody ("Cheers," "Natural Born Killers") Harrelson and Kyle ("Blue Velvet," "Twin Peaks") MacLachlan.
They will be starring in a new play, On an Average Day, by American playwright John Kolvenbach, at the Comedy Theatre. The play is set in rural upstate New York. Jack (MacLachlan) unexpectedly returns home after a 15-year absence to find his abandoned younger brother, Robert (Harrelson), living in a private world that is far from ordinary. Robert is on trial for a bizarre traffic incident, is hoarding a shower full of newspaper clippings and has something unsavory living in the fridge. And what has Jack been hiding from Robert all these years?
Extremely funny and genuinely moving, the story reveals that on an average day extraordinary things can happen.
On an Average Day begins previews on July 25 and opens on August 7. The director is John Crowley.
