Doug Hughes, who was previously announced to direct Spirit Control, had to withdraw from the production due to scheduling conflicts.
In the play, according to MTC, "Adam Wyatt has the perfect family and a perfect record as an air traffic controller. But when the pilot of a small plane suffers a heart attack, Adam must talk a terrified passenger through an emergency landing. What happens next will link him inextricably to a woman he's never met, and set the life he once knew irrevocably adrift."
It's billed as "a chilling and mesmerizing look at how we navigate a crisis, and the demons that haunt us long after."
Casting and creative team for Spirit Control, as well as other listings information, will be announced in the coming weeks.
Both Wishcamper, who staged Off-Broadway's Graceland and Conor McPherson's Port Authority (Atlantic Theater Company), and Willimon, author of ATC's Farragut North, will be making their Manhattan Theatre Club debuts with the play.
