Former Broadway Elphaba Shoshana Bean has returned to her earliest musical inspirations for her fourth studio album, Spectrum, which, according to press notes, "combines big band, jazz, and soul." Bean will be backed up on the album by an 18-piece band, playing arrangements by two-time Grammy nominee Alan Ferber.
Bean's previous albums, which include Superhero, O'Farrell Street, and Shadows to Light, were made up of original songs written by Bean, but Spectrum's track list combines a few original tracks with a collection of standards, showtunes, and modern favorites. The songlist includes the Sinatra classic "I Wanna Be Around," The Beatles' "With a Little Help from My Friends" (featuring Grace Potter), and "If Ever I Would Leave You" from Lerner and Loewe's Camelot.
Spectrum is set to release February 9, 2018.
