The second full season of The Ensemblist podcast, “The History of the Ensemblist,” takes a deep dive into the ensembles of Pulitzer Prize-winning musicals—their original productions and subsequent revivals.
Hosts Nikka Graff Lanzarone and Mo Brady explore how ensembles have changed over time, and how those choruses contributed to the show’s award-worthy status. The season has explored shows like Next to Normal with original cast member Adam Chanler-Berat, Rent with Michael McElroy, and the A Chorus Line revival with Mara Davi.
For its final episode of the season, Lanzarone and Brady spoke with Neil Haskell and Sasha Hutchings about their experience in the global phenomenon Hamilton.
“The Pulitzer can be awarded to the text, but musicals are dimensional,” says Hutchings about the impact the cast had on making Hamilton an evolving entity and a vehicle for change.
