MCC Theater will produce a four-week development workshop of the new musical Hearts Beat Loud, based on the 2018 indie film of the same name, in 2023 with presentations February 9-10.

Obie Award winner Whitney White (MCC’s soft) will direct the workshop of the new musical, which features an original score and lyrics by Niko Tsakalakos (Fall Springs) and a book by Ngozi Anyanwu (Seven Deadly Sins). Casting will be announced at a later date.

Brian Usifer (A Beautiful Noise) penned the arrangements.

Hearts Beat Loud is about fathers and daughters, music and memory, the inevitability of change, and the bravery it takes to embrace it. Nick Offerman and Toni Collette starred in the original film.

MCC is producing the workshop in collaboration with Tamar Climan and Paige Price.
