Wheelhouse Theater Company’s production of Life Sucks. begins June 4 Off-Broadway for a limited run at the Acorn Theater at Theatre Row. Aaron Posner’s “sort of” adaptation of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya played an engagement at The Wild Project earlier this year.
Life Sucks. will run through September 1; opening night is set for June 16.
The play follows a group of old friends, ex-lovers, estranged in-laws, and lifelong enemies who gather to grapple with life’s thorniest questions—and each other.
Jeff Wise directs a cast comprised of Kevin Isola as Vanya, Nadia Bowers as Ella, Kimberly Chatterjee as Sonia, Barbara Kingsley as Babs, Stacey Linnartz as Pickles, Tony Award nominee Austin Pendleton as The Professor, and Michael Schantz as Dr. Aster.
Wheelhouse’s production features scenic design by Brittany Vasta, costumes by Christopher Metzger, lighting by Drew Florida, sound design by Mark Van Hare, and prop design by Deb Gaouette. The production stage manager is Caitlin O’Rouke, and the executive producer/general manager is Visceral Entertainment (Michael Chase Gosselin and Tim Sulka).
Life Sucks. was first produced by Theater J at the Aaron and Cecile Goldman Theater in Washington, D.C.
