Abbe Tanenbaum's play was inspired by 20 letters written in the 1970s by women seeking abortions.

The world premiere of Abbe Tanenbaum's drama What Kind of Woman will play September 23-October 1 at Carnegie Stage in Pittsburgh and October 19-November 19 at the cell theatre in NYC. 

The play is inspired by Tanenbaum's work as a personal organizer, during which she uncovered 20 letters written in the 1970s from women seeking abortions. The drama  follows Nora, a feminist who hires a personal organizer and struggling actor, Anne, to clean her apartment ahead of her visit with her estranged son. 

What Kind of Woman is directed by Kira Simring and will star Virginia Wall Gruenert and Abbe Tanenbaum. 

The play will also have production design by Tucker Topel, sound by Shannon Knapp, lighting by Forrest Trimble, and associate producing by Katie Mack.
