In response to overwhelming ticket demand, Westport has announced that two additional screenings of Our Town have been added to the event that will celebrate the life and legacy of the late stage and screen star. Newly added screenings will take place at 8 PM on Nov. 20 and 21. Each screening will be preceded by a community gathering at 7 PM.
Previously announced screenings will take place at 2 and 7 PM on Nov. 22, with light refreshments served one-hour prior.
Filmed by the Showtime cable network during its Broadway run, Our Town marked Newman's final stage appearance. The acclaimed actor portrayed the Stage Manager in the James Naughton-helmed production that began life at the Westport Country Playhouse and subsequently transferred to Broadway in 2002.
Paul Newman, the ruggedly handsome Oscar-winning actor known for his roles in "Cool Hand Luke," "Hud," "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof," and Broadway's Picnic, Sweet Bird of Youth and The Desperate Hours, lost his battle with cancer on Sept. 26 at the age of 83.
