David McVicar’s staging of the Verdi tragedy Rigoletto heads to the big screen as part of Royal Opera House’s Cinema Series. Screenings take place in major U.S. markets February 13, with subsequent showings through March 11.
In the clip above, Dimitri Platanias (Rigoletto), Lucy Crowe (Gilda), Michael Fabiano (the Duke), and Nadia Krasteva (Maddalena) perform the famed quartet “Bella figlia dell’amore.” Below, Crowe sings Gilda’s Act I aria, “Caro nome.”
The performance, conducted by Alexander Joel, was staged by revival director Justin Way and helmed for the screen by Francesca Kemp.
