The legacy of Nick Cordero continues after his passing in 2020 due to COVID-19 complications. In a new tribute video above, from American History Unbound, fans can watch the Tony nominee perform excerpts from a workshop of Eyes of the World: From D-Day to VE Day , which was due to receive a live staging at Carnegie Hall's Zankel Hall this past June.
Among the highlights in the tribute are Cordero singing "Too Young to Say Goodbye" from the show. The Eyes of the World..., created by John Monsky, follows American soldiers and their allies from the moment they land on the beaches of Normandy to their victory 11 months later.
"Nick’s loss is still unbelievable to us all. He had a power and presence that came across every time he set foot on stage, be it on Broadway, a cabaret, or Carnegie Hall," says Kate Rockwell (Mean Girls), Cordero's co-star in the workshop. "In part, it was just who Nick was, and in part, it was because he was so fascinated by the history we told in this show. Here he played the role of an ordinary American called to do extraordinary things; exactly the way he did when he fought COVID-19 until the very end."
