Video Watch: Ramin Karimloo Sings From Pro-Wrestling Rock Musical The Last Match

"Thirty Years" features music by Sylvana Joyce and C. Robert Smith and lyrics by Jason Huza.

A new video is offering a sneak peek at the in-development "pro-wrestling rock experience" The Last Match, with star Ramin Karimloo singing the Sylvana Joyce, C. Robert Smith, and Jason Huza score's "Thirty Years." The track is currently available on streaming platforms. Save the track here.

The song—featuring lyrics by Huza and music by Joyce and Smith—explores the toll of a life spent in the ring. The musical, which is currently aiming for a fully staged production, centers around those themes as well, with press notes describing the story as "about identity, memory, and what it costs to keep fighting."

“When my team and I conceived the idea for The Last Match back in 2019, never did we imagine having an international theatrical star like Ramin Karimloo playing this role," says Last Match director and co-creator Jeremiah James in a statement. "The role required Ramin (and anyone else who plays the role) to be trained to be a professional wrestler. He’s taking real bumps in the ring, getting thrown around and body slammed night after night, and then he stands up and sings like that. There’s no trick, it's brutal on the body. It is the most physically demanding role ever conceived for an actor. It’s madness, and it’s thrilling to watch. That level of commitment from Ramin is what makes The Last Match feel so raw and alive, and has catapulted us to where we are today."
