The 40th Annual Kennedy Center Honors, which was broadcast December 26 on CBS, paid tribute to TV writer and producer Norman Lear, creator of such TV classics as All in the Family and Good Times.
In the video above Rob Reiner, Rachel Bloom, Anthony Anderson, Rita Moreno, and Kenya Barris celebrate Lear and his TV groundbreakers All in the Family, Maude, Good Times, The Jeffersons, and One Day at a Time. In the video below, JJ Abrams and George Clooney take audiences through the life and legacy of Lear.
Honorees also included singer-songwriter Gloria Estefan, whose life was explored in the Broadway musical On Your Feet!; actor, dancer, and choreographer Carmen de Lavallade, whose Broadway credits include A Streetcar Named Desire and House of Flowers; hip hop artist LL Cool J; and musician and record producer Lionel Richie.
