Film & TV News Watch Jonathan Groff in the New Trailer for Mindhunter Season 2 The Netflix thriller will also star another Broadway favorite in its second season, premiering in August.

The second season of Netflix’s Mindhunter will premiere August 16; check out the first teaser trailer above.

The series stars Tony Award nominee Jonathan Groff (Hamilton, Spring Awakening) and Holt McCallany as Agents Holden Ford and Bill Tench in the FBI Behavioral Science Unit. The pair help local police find serial killers (and get ahead of them) by better understanding their psychology through working with already imprisoned murderers.

Season 2 fast-forwards to the Atlanta child murders of 1979 to 1981, where 28 African-Americans were killed. McCallany also hints that Charles Manson and David Berkowitz could pop up this season.

The cast for the series' return also includes Tony winner Michael Cerveris, Anna Torv, Joe Tuttle, Albert Jones, Lauren Glazier, Stacey Roca, and Sierra McClain.

Mindhunter is based on the book Mind Hunter: Inside FBI’s Elite Serial Crime Unit, written by Mark Olshaker and John E. Douglas, who is also the inspiration for Groff’s character. The series, from executive producer David Fincher, premiered in 2017.
