Lady M, the new musical based on William Shakespeare's Macbeth, has released a new music video of star Jamie Muscato performing "However Hard I Try"; watch above.
In the piece, Muscato plays Banquo, a friend to Lord Macbeth who learns the truth of the witches' prophecy, and who is killed by Macbeth when his loyalty is perceived as a threat. "However Hard I Try" musicalizes Banquo's reaction to Macbeth killing King Duncan and his internal struggle as the only person with any idea of his connection to the murder.
Lady M retells the story of Macbeth through the perspective of his wife, Lady Macbeth. Flashbacks of her past are interwoven with the events of the play until a clearer picture of her part in the villainy and downfall is visible to the audience.
The musical, which is entirely sung-through, is written and created by James Beeny and Gina Georgio of Toy Soldier Productions. "However Hard I Try" was produced with Rik Simpson, a multi-Grammy-winning music producer (Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends, Mylo Xyloto, Ghost Stories, A Head Full of Dreams, Everyday Life).
