Watch James Corden Attempt to Step Into the Title Role of The Phantom of the Opera | Playbill

News Watch James Corden Attempt to Step Into the Title Role of The Phantom of the Opera As a comedy skit for "The Late Late Show," host (and Tony winner) James Corden goes to the Pantages Theatre in Los Angeles, believing he is going to play the title role of The Phantom of the Opera, with which he is obsessed, only to discover that he's actually doing a celebrity cameo as Second Fop — and then gets far too involved with the tiny role.

Among highlights, Cordon confronts the actual actor playing the Phantom, Chris Mann, who asks what his name is. Cordon snarks, "James Corden is what it says on my Tony Award, what does it say on your Tony Award?"

Corden won the 2012 Tony Award as Best Actor in a Play for his performance in One Man, Two Guvnors.
