Dreamgirls star Amber Riley gave a chilling performance of “And I Am Telling You” from the hit musical at the Olivier Awards at the Royal Albert Hall in London on April 9. Following the performance, the Effie White of London’s Dreamgirls took home her first Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical.

“I hope that anyone who sees a little bit of themselves in me and sees me standing on this stage, I hope that you’re inspired,” Riley said in her speech. “I hope that you can know that you can do this if you really want to.”
Other Olivier wins on April 9 included Andy Karl for Best Actor in a Musical for The Old Vic’s Groundhog Day—now in previews on Broadway—and Adam J Bernard for Best Actor in a Supporting Role in a Musical for Dreamgirls. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child took home a record-breaking 9 awards—out of their 11 nominations.
