The story of a Florida retiree who hires a former Broadway dancer to give her ballroom dancing lessons features Cheyenne Jackson ("Glee," Finian's Rainbow) and Academy Award nominee Gena Rowlands ("A Woman Under the Influence," Middle of the Night). Arthur Allan Seidelman directs.
Jackson plays Michael Minetti, a New York dance instructor hired by Lily Harrison (Rowlands) for six weeks of dance instruction. A friendship then blossoms between the two very different people.
The cast also features Oscar nominee Jacki Weaver ("Silver Linings Playbook," "The Five-Year Engagement"), Julian Sands ("Leaving Las Vegas," "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo"), Tony and Academy Award winner Rita Moreno ("West Side Story," The Ritz) and Kathleen Rose Perkins ("Gone Girl," "The Skeleton Twins"). The film will be released Dec. 12.
Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks played a brief, 56-performance Broadway run in fall 2003. The New York cast featured stage and screen veteran Polly Bergen and Mark Hamill of "Star Wars" fame.
The play has been produced in over 20 countries across the globe since its premiere. Watch the trailer below.
