Video Watch: Cast and Creatives Share What to Expect From New Broadway Musical Almost Famous

The musical, based on the 2000 film, is currently in previews at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre.

The musical adaptation of Almost Famous, based on the 2000 film by Cameron Crowe, is currently in previews at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre with an official opening set for November 3.

The cast and creatives share with Playbill what to expect from the new musical in the video above.

Almost Famous is about loving music and being a community of people that kind of understand you and know you,” shares Crowe, who wrote the book and lyrics for the musical. “And the aperture of your life gets to open up a little bit because the experiences are all new, and they all kind of come from your heart, and it's like listening to a song you love.”

Set in 1973, the story follows a 15-year-old aspiring music journalist who Rolling Stone hires to go on tour with an up-and-coming rock band. The musical features a book and lyrics by Crowe and music and lyrics by Tony and Pulitzer winner Tom Kitt (Next to Normal).

The cast features Solea Pfeiffer, Chris Wood, Casey Likes, Tony nominee Anika Larsen, Drew Gehling, and Rob Colletti. The company also includes Matt Bittner, Chad Burris, Gerard Canonico, Julia Cassandra, Brandon Contreras, Jakeim Hart, Van Hughes, Jana Djenne Jackson, Katie Ladner, Danny Lindgren, Erica Mansfield, Alisa Melendez, Kevin Perdido, Andrew Poston, Emily Schultheis, Daniel Sovich, Libby Winters, and Matthew C. Yee.

Almost Famous is directed by Tony nominee Jeremy Herrin (Wolf Hall Parts One and Two), leading a creative team that also includes choreographer Sarah O'Gleby, music supervisor Bryan Perri, scenic designer Derek McLane, costume designer David Zinn, lighting designer Natasha Katz, sound designer Peter Hylenski, hair and makeup designer Luc Verschueren, and physical movement coordinator Lorenzo Pisoni. Kitt penned arrangements and orchestrations, and vocal design is by AnnMarie Milazzo. The production is cast by Jim Carnahan.
