London’s Royal Opera House continues to head to movie theatres with Tony winner Christopher Wheeldon’s production of Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland. The Royal Ballet presentation will screen in major U.S. markets December 5 as part of ROH’s Cinema Series.
Take a look at an exclusive clip above; the scene features Lauren Morera as the Queen of Hearts in the “Tart Adagio,” scored by Joby Talbot. The segment is Wheeldon’s parody of Sleeping Beauty’s “Rose Adagio.”
The 2011 production, a co-presentation between the Royal Ballet and the National Ballet of Canada, ended its run for the 2017–2018 season in October.
The cast also features Lauren Cuthbertson as Alice, as well as Federico Bonelli, James Hay, Christopher Saunders, Steven McRae, Fernando Montaño, Gary Avis, Paul Kay, Romany Pajdak, Kristen McNally, Tristan Dyer, David Yudes, Meaghan Grace Hinkis, Beatriz Stix-Brunell, and Harry Churches.ROH’s Cinema Series will also include Anna Netrebko and Željko Lučić in Verdi’s Macbeth, plus new ballets celebrating the Leonard Bernstein centennial.
