The Muny’s production of the Tony-winning musical 1776, the third show of its second century, kicked off performances June 27. Watch highlights in the video above.

Directed by Rob Ruggiero and choreographed by Enrique Brown with music direction by James Moore, the production continues through July 3.

The cast is headed by Robert Petkoff as John Adams, Adam Heller as Benjamin Franklin, Keith Hines as Thomas Jefferson, Jenny Powers as Abigail Adams, Ali Ewoldt as Martha Jefferson, George Abud as James Wilson, Ryan Andes as Richard Henry Lee, Reed Armstrong as Dr. Lyman Hall, Patrick Blindauer as Samuel Chase, Harry Bouvy as Andrew McNair, Dean Christopher as Joseph Hewes, Bobby Conte Thornton as Edward Rutledge, Ben Davis as John Dickinson, J.D. Daw as Robert Livingston, Gary Glasgow as Charles Thomson, Philip Hoffman as Caesar Rodney, Michael Thomas Holmes as George Read, Joneal Joplin as Stephen Hopkins, Brian Keane as Col. Thomas McKean, Benjamin Love as A Leather Apron, Larry Mabrey as Lewis Morris, Ben Nordstrom as Dr. Josiah Bartlett, Rich Pisarkiewicz as Painter, Alex Prakken as Courier, Michael James Reed as John Hancock, Greg Roderick as Roger Sherman, and Jerry Vogel as Rev. The production also has sets by Luke Cantarella, costumes by Alejo Vietti, lighting design by John Lasiter, sound design by John Shivers and David Patridge, video design by Greg Emetaz, and wig design by Leah J. Loukas. The production stage manager is Nancy Uffner, and casting is by Telsey + Company.

Featuring a book by Peter Stone and a score by Sherman Edwards, the 1969 musical spans the two months ahead of the signing of the Declaration of Independence as John Adams persuades his fellow Founding Fathers to escape British rule, putting his own morality at stake.
