"I have always followed a more nomadic principle of living," said Pfeil of the album. "I find that nothing centers or humbles me more than wandering. It is the purest way that I find solace and motivation. When someone wanders, he is forced to focus on his surroundings because he doesn't know them, and if he's going to navigate them, he has to pay attention. After I settled into the chaotic landscape of New York, I strayed from that quiet lifestyle, and the lights went out. The world got too loud and dark, and I kinda lost myself. That happens to a lot of people. 'Wallpaper' sort of became a compass that helped me navigate back onto that nomadic interstate that is the only way I know how to live. It's a travelogue."
