American Heart in WWI: A Carnegie Hall Tribute will air on PBS this Veteran's Day (November 11) with a star-studded lineup of performances with stars from Broadway and beyond. Tony Award winner Michael Mayer directed the evening paying tribute to veterans of the first world war. It was filmed at Carnegie Hall this past April.
The concert includes selections from Irving Berlin, James Reese Europe, and George M. Cohan performed by a cast comprised of Adam Chanler-Berat (Next to Normal), Nicholas Christopher (Chess), Micaela Diamond (Parade), Gracie McGraw (OWN's "If Loving You Is Wrong"), and Diego Andres Rodriguez (Evita at the London Palladium).
Ahead of the concert's television debut, see Nicholas Christopher, Adam Chanler-Berat, and Diego Andres Rodriguez in the video below performing "We'll Never Tell Them" during the special concert.
Led by historian John Monsky, the songs guide audiences throughout the war with both real-life and fictional figures represented onstage, such as Jay Gatsby and Nick Carraway, Combat pilot Quentin Roosevelt, and more. Ian Weinberger (Hamilton) serves as music supervisor, conductor, and arranger. The National Archives also provides rare historical images and film.
American Heart in WWI: A Carnegie Hall Tribute will air on PBS 8 PM on November 11. It will also be available for streaming on pbs.org and the PBS app. For more information, visit here.
