Sorry Lansbury fans, Entertainment Weekly has shot down a widely-reported story that five-time Tony Award-winning actress Angela Lansbury had signed to appear in the currently-shooting seventh season of the popular HBO sword-and-sorcery series Game of Thrones.
TVWeb.com was among outlets that had reported as a done deal the fact that the actress, who played homicidal pie maker Mrs. Lovett in Sweeney Todd and the murder-solving author Jessica Fletcher in TV's Murder, She Wrote, was joining George R.R. Martin’s blood-soaked series in a role yet to be announced. The site even reported that she would appear in two episodes that would require four days of filming.
On September 7 EW quoted “the actress’ team” saying there was nothing to the story.
The actress has said she is planning to return to Broadway in 2017 in a revival of Enid Bagnold’s The Chalk Garden.
