The Guardian newspaper, which has always prided itself on its arts coverage, is to launch a new Saturday supplement, a tabloid-style arts and books section.
The Guardian's supplement will be called Review, will be some 40 pages thick and will be launched on Saturday, June 1. This will coincide with the launch of the Guardian Hay Festival, the country's premier literary festival.
Although much of the focus of Review will be on books — traditionally Guardian readers are highly literate — theatre is one of the other major art forms to be covered in terms of listings articles and interviews.
