International News Trevor Nunn Will Direct Brian Cox in World Premiere of The Score in 2023

Oliver Cotton's drama will play the Theatre Royal Bath.

The world premiere of Oliver Cotton's The Score, starring Brian Cox (Succession) as Johann Sebastian Bach, is scheduled to begin performances October 12, 2023, at the Theatre Royal Bath.

Directed by Trevor Nunn, performances will continue through October 28. Additional casting and creative team members will be announced.

The play is set in 1747 Prussia as Bach reluctantly visits the court of the ambitious and dangerous European leader Frederick II. The two men could hardly be more different; however, Frederick remains in awe of Bach’s genius and has prepared a musical conundrum that he hopes will baffle the composer and amuse his court.

Cox is a two-time Olivier winner for his performances in Rat in the Skull and Titus AndronicusFilm credits include Braveheart, The Long Kiss Goodnight, and The Bourne Identity

Former artistic director of the National Theatre and Royal Shakespeare Company, Tony and Olivier winner Nunn’s career includes the international hit musical Les Misérables and the Tony-winning The Life and Adventures of Nicholas Nickleby, among many others.
