The Finger Lakes Musical Theatre Festival will present the regional premiere of Treasure Island beginning August 24. The new musical is set to star Jimmy Bain as Jim Hawkins, along with Bart Shatto as Long John Sliver, John Paul Almon as Squire Trelawney and Danny Bolero as George Merry.
Performances will continue through September 10. Based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s beloved novel, the new musical chronicles the life-changing adventures of a boy.
Treasure Island had its world premiere at Arkansas Repertory Theatre in 2013. It features a book by Carla Vitale and Brett Smock, with music and lyrics by Corinne Aquilina.
The cast of the Finger Lakes production also features Leland Burnett, Clark Scott Carmichael, Victoria Huston-Elem, Patrick Oliver Jones, W. Joseph Matheson, Noah Plomgren and Patrick Richwood, who reprises his role from the world-premiere production.
The show is directed and choreographed by FLMTF producing artistic director, Smock, with musical direction by Jeff Theiss and fight choreography by DC Wright.
The scenic design is by Czerton Lim, with costume design by Tristan Raines, projection design by Christopher Ash, lighting design by Dan Ozminkowski and sound design by Ryan Kilcourse.
