A host of theatre favorites will be featured in Little Island's 2023 free summer outdoor series. Since opening in May 2021, the public park in Hudson River Park has welcomed over three million visitors and hosted over 572 free performances.
This third summer season, running June 7-September 3, will feature free performances from Tony winner Tonya Pinkins, Tony nominee Joshua Henry, Emmy nominee Shaina Taub, Tony nominee Daniel J. Watts, Lortel Award winner Kuhoo Verma, Amber Iman, Aisha Jackson, Mykal Kilgore, John Manzari, Grace McLean, Florencia Cuenca, Jaime Lozano, and Luke Hickey.
Also offering intimate performances in The Glade will be SNL cast member James Austin Johnson; Grammy winner J Hoard; Grammy nominee Tessa Lark; jazz artists Darmon Meader, Philippe Lemm Trio, and Zac Zinger Trio; songwriter and musician J Hoard; Sufi music ensemble Falsa; keyboardist Takahiro Izumikawa; jazz singer Stella K. Cole; comedians Jo Firestone and Morgan Jay; Alicia Keys’ She Is The Music; and more.
The Play Ground will also feature drag bingo, DJs, and dance parties, while Little Island will once again host Creative Breaks, free artmaking activities (dance, music, and visual art) for all ages. And, Teen Night, programming designed specifically for the teen community, will return Fridays at 7 PM.
