To mark World Refugee Day, culinary non profit Emma’s Torch has released a cover of Stephen Sondheim's "Another Hundred People" sung by Tony winner Santino Fontana. The single is produced by Kevin Laskey, who incorporated sounds from the kitchen at Emma’s Torch. Proceeds will support the organization’s June Match Campaign.
“‘Another Hundred People’ is one of my favorite songs about New York City," shares Laskey. It miraculously captures all of the conflicting emotions one can have when moving here. This rendition is in tribute to all who have come through Emma’s Torch, who despite the immense challenges, help make New York a better version of itself.”
Emma’s Torch is a non-profit that works to train refugees, asylum seekers, and survivors of human trafficking in the culinary arts in order to empower them to build meaningful careers in the culinary industry. The organization’s students participate in a full-time, paid, culinary training program in preparation for job placement.
