Tony winner Cady Huffman returns to Broadway April 23 in Chicago at the Ambassador Theatre.
Huffman, last on Broadway opposite Nathan Lane in The Nance, steps into the role of Matron “Mama” Morton. She succeeds singer-songwriter Valerie Simpson, who played her final performance April 22.
April 23 also marks the return of Broadway favorite, Tony nominee Charlotte d'Amboise (Pippin, A Chorus Line, Jerome Robbins’ Broadway), to the role of Roxie Hart. The cast also features Amra-Faye Wright as Velma Kelly, Chaz Lamar Shepherd as Billy Flynn, Evan Harrington as Amos Hart, and R. Lowe as Mary Sunshine.
Huffman won her Tony for her performance as Ulla in The Producers opposite Lane and Matthew Broderick. Her Broadway credits also include a Tony-nominated performance as Ziegfeld’s Favorite in The Will Rogers Follies, the original production of La Cage aux Folles, Steel Pier, Dame Edna: The Royal Tour, and Bob Fosse’s last original musical, Big Deal.
