Rob Mathes, who earned 2015 Tony and Drama Desk Award nominations for his orchestrations on Sting’s musical The Last Ship, returns to New York City as a performer with The Rob Mathes Holiday Concert, December 17 at 3 PM at Pace University‘s Schmmel Center.
Mathes previously served as arranger on Vanessa Williams’s 2004 Broadway solo concert, Silver & Gold.
Mathes’ band, which includes instrumentalists from Saturday Night Live and the Late Show with David Letterman, is planning “an afternoon of funk and R&B-laden original tunes, holiday classics, and audience favorites.”
Mathes won an Emmy Award for his musical direction of the Kennedy Center Honors and music directed President Barack Obama’s Inauguration at the Lincoln Memorial, Pope Francis’ Concert For Hope at Madison Square Garden, and the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame show since 1998. He has also worked professionally with U2, Beyoncé, and Bruce Springsteen.
The Schimmel Center is located at 3 Spruce Street in lower Manhattan. Tickets, at $29–$55, can be ordered by calling (212) 346-1715, or by clicking here.
