On October 3—a date revered by Mean Girls fans—the August Wilson Theatre opened its doors, offering fans the opportunity to be among the first to buy tickets for the musical adaptation's Broadway bow. The day kicked off with bookwriter Tina Fey serving up cheese fires from a food truck outside the theatre.

The food truck, branded specifically for the musical, will also make the rounds through Manhattan, handing out cheese fries in Times Square and Union Square throughout the day.

Tickets are on sale all day (“Mean Girls Day”) at the 52nd Street venue beginning at 10 AM. (Tickets will be on sale at the box office this day only for now; in-person sales will resume at a later date.) From 11 AM–1 PM, attendees will be treated to show-branded merchandise, surprise guest appearances, a ticket raffle, and cheese fries (another Mean Girls staple) from Sweetery Brand's food truck.

Performances of the musical, written by the 2005 film's screenwriter Tina Fey, her husband Jeff Richmond, and Tony nominee Nell Benjamin, will begin March 12, 2018, prior to an April 8 opening. Prior to that, the show is set to receive its world premiere at Washington, D.C.'s National Theatre beginning October 31.
