The New Group’s revival of Sam Shepard’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Buried Child will be rebroadcast on PBS network Thirteen August 4 as a tribute to the late playwright. The Scott Elliott-helmed production, captured live Off-Broadway last spring, is also available to stream online now for those within the New York metro area.

Celebrated American playwright Shepard passed away at his home in Kentucky July 27, at age 73. Considered one of his most acclaimed plays, Buried Child was revived by the New Group at The Pershing Square Signature Center February 2–April 3, 2016.

The production was filmed and broadcast live on BroadwayHD March 30, 2016.

The cast is made up of Mad Men star Rich Sommer, Broadway vet Larry Pine (Casa Valentina), Ed Harris (Apollo 13), House of Cards actor Paul Sparks, Nat Wolff (Paper Towns), Taissa Farmiga (American Horror Story), and Amy Madigan (Twice in a Lifetime.)

Directed for television by David Horn, Buried Child is a production of Thirteen Productions LLC for WNET and The New Group in association with BroadwayHD. Mitch Owgang is producer; Bill O’Donnell is series producer; and Horn is executive producer.

Stewart F. Lane and Bonnie Comley are executive producers for Broadway HD. Executive-in-charge for WNET is Neal Shapiro.
