The evening, which will feature male and female contestants duking it out for drag superstardom, will be hosted by Sweetie, the drag persona of actor Daniel Booth. A rotating group of special guest co-hosts is set to include Jim Caruso (Cast Party at Birdland), Christine Pedi (NEWSical, Forbidden Broadway), Mary Testa (Love, Loss and What I Wore; Xanadu), Mink Stole (of the John Waters films), Village Voice columnist Michael Musto, celebrity photographer Mike Ruiz (of Bravo's "The A List") and more. Alex Perez created and directed the show. The audience will decide the outcome of "Drag Off," which is patterned after 1970s game shows including "Let's Make a Deal" and "The Gong Show," as well as the current hit reality series "America's Got Talent."
According to press notes, "The colorful ‘cast’ of contestants is an ever-changing weekly roster with some of your favorite and undiscovered talent from across the country in a wacky glamour-fest with brainy categories, comedic camp and live musical performances."
