Performances of the drama will now continue through April 27 past its original closing date of March 31. It opened Off-Broadway Feb. 28.
The New York Times also reports that Rattlestick artistic director David Van Asselt has been in early discussions with producers to transfer the intimate production to Broadway depending on the availability of its two name stars and a suitable Broadway venue.
Kip Fagan directs the production. Last season, Eisenberg starred in his play Asuncion for the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, also at Cherry Lane.
In addition to Redgrave (Driving Miss Daisy, The Year of Magical Thinking, Long Day's Journey Into Night) and Eisenberg ("The Social Network"), the cast features Daniel Oreskes (The Twenty-Seventh Man, Russian Transport) as a Polish taxi driver in the life of the secret-keeping Maria (played by Redgrave). Maria is the second cousin of Eisenberg's American character.
According to the Rattlestick, "In The Revisionist David (Eisenberg) arrives in Poland with a crippling case of writer's block and a desire to be left alone. His 75-year-old second cousin Maria (Redgrave) welcomes him with a fervent need to connect with her distant American family. As their tenuous relationship develops, she reveals details about her complicated post-war past that tests their ideas of what it means to be a family."
