The production, which co-stars Oscar winner Vanessa Redgrave and Oscar nominee Eisenberg, was originally scheduled to run through March 31; performances will now continue through April 21. The drama opened Feb. 28 following previews from Feb. 15.
In addition to Redgrave (Driving Miss Daisy, The Year of Magical Thinking, Long Day's Journey Into Night) and Eisenberg ("The Social Network"), the cast features Daniel Oreskes (The Twenty-Seventh Man, Russian Transport) as a Polish taxi driver in the life of the secret-keeping Maria (played by Redgrave). Maria is the second cousin of Eisenberg's American character.
Kip Fagan directs. Last season Eisenberg starred in his play Asuncion for the Rattlestick Playwrights Theater, also at Cherry Lane.
According to the Rattlestick, "In The Revisionist David (Eisenberg) arrives in Poland with a crippling case of writer's block and a desire to be left alone. His 75-year-old second cousin Maria (Redgrave) welcomes him with a fervent need to connect with her distant American family. As their tenuous relationship develops, she reveals details about her complicated post-war past that tests their ideas of what it means to be a family."
