Dorian Harewood, recently on Broadway in a Tony-nominated performance in The Notebook, goes it solo February 25 at 7 PM at 54 Below with an evening titled Songs From the Brill Building.
In conjunction with Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE), the performance benefits Altadena families who have been affected by the California wildfires.
Harewood’s concert pays tribute to the legendary songs created at or influenced by New York’s iconic Brill Building. Attendees can expect to hear such tunes as “One Fine Day,” “Make It Easy on Yourself,” “Stand By Me,” “On Broadway,” “What The World Needs Now Is Love,” “Love Potion No. 9,” “Breaking Up Is Hard Do,” and “I’m a Believer.” Harewood will also debut an original song he has written, “Off Rhythm.”
The stage and screen star, who is making his New York City solo concert debut, is joined by musical director Tony Daniels, Greg Germann on drums and percussion, Eamon Rayhn on bass, Gabriel Aldort on keyboard, and vocalists Steffani Bennett and Lorriane Ferro.

“When I saw the widespread devastation in Altadena, where my family lost their homes and their most treasured lifetime possessions, I wanted to offer my help and support to the community,” Harewood said in an earlier statement. “I’ve decided to partner with CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort), who works to help the most vulnerable families rebuild with comprehensive disaster case management support, cash assistance, debris removal, and so much more. All of my proceeds from the concert will be donated in support of the humanitarian organization’s response to helping families during this most challenging time.”
Harewood has also been seen on Broadway in Two Gentlemen of Verona, Don't Call Back, Streamers, and The Mighty Gents. An NAACP Image Award winner for his work as Clarence "Cool Papa" Charleston in the NBC series I'll Fly Away as well as an Emmy nominee for Hank Aaron: Chasing the Dream, the Ohio native's numerous screen credits also include Roots: The Next Generation, Strike Force, The Jesse Owens Story, Full Metal Jacket, Against All Odds, Sudden Death,12 Angry Men, Viper, The Hoop Life, Private Practice, Boomtown, Las Vegas, Sarah Connor Chronicles, Criminal Minds, 9-1-1, Big Sky, and Bel-Air.
