The company of The Crucible at the National Theatre Johan Persson

The National Theatre production of Arthur Miller's The Crucible, directed by Lyndsey Turner (Under Milk Wood), officially opens September 28 following previews that began September 14 in the Olivier. Performances continue through November 5.

The cast features Brendan Cowell (Yerma) as John Proctor and Erin Doherty (The Crown, My Name is Rachel Corrie) as Abigail Williams, alongside Eileen Walsh (Women on the Verge) as Elizabeth Proctor, Fisayo Akinade (Romeo & Juliet) as Reverend Hale, Karl Johnson (Under Milk Wood) as Giles Corey, and Matthew Marsh (Dunkirk) as Danforth.

The ensemble includes David Ahmad, Nathan Amzi, Zoë Aldrich, Stephanie Beattie, Raphael Bushay, Sophia Brown, Halle Brown, Anushka Chakravarti, Grace Cooper Milton, Rachelle Diedericks, Hero Douglas, Henry Everett, Nick Fletcher, Jersey Blu Georgia, Colin Haigh, Una Herrmann, Martin Johnston, Evie Marner, Gracie McGonigal, Alastair Parker, Joy Tan, Ami Tredrea, Tilly Tremayne, and Cadence Williams.

The production also has set design by Es Devlin, costume design by Catherine Fay, lighting design by Tim Lutkin, sound content design by Tingying Dong, sound system design Paul Arditti, compositions and arrangements by Caroline Shaw, arrangements and musical direction by Osnat Schmool, fight direction by Bret Young and Ita O’Brien, and intimacy direction by Louise Kempton. The staff director is Blythe Stewart, and dialect coaches are Danièle Lydon and Hazel Holder.

The Crucible will also be broadcast to cinemas across the U.K. on January 26, 2023, and around the world March 2.
