News The Book of Mormon Plans West End Premiere; London Website Launched, Tickets to Go on Sale in September The nine-time Tony-winning hit The Book of Mormon is getting ready to transfer to the West End. The website for the London production has been launched, with a sign-up form for priority booking details. Tickets are scheduled to go on sale to the general public Sept. 13.

The acclaimed Broadway musical will begin performances Feb. 25, 2013, at the Prince of Wales Theatre, prior to an official opening planned for around March 21. Trey Parker, co-creator of the show with Matt Stone, told the Daily Mail, "We've always considered ourselves to have a British sense of humor!," in the report, stating that three of the show's songs were written in London. Referencing Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney, who is a Mormon, London co-producer Sonia Friedman commented, "It's not unhelpful that he's running for President."

Lead New York producer Scott Rudin, who is partnering on the show in London, comments that the production isn't seeking to cast stars. "What we found  in New York is that Trey and Matt are the stars. It's their first musical and they’re two guys who have a well-loved body of work." (Robert Lopez shares the show's writing credit.)
