If you like to believe that man did not evolve from animals, then perhaps David Hahn can offer you some solace. Catch his musical comedy, In The Beginning, which is closing Sept. 23 at California's Willows Theatre. The production started its run Aug. 21 and made its official West Coast premiere on Aug. 25. Richard Elliott directs.
In The Beginning is a different take on many of the popular Bible stories. In this musical, with music and lyrics by Maury Yeston (Titanic, Phantom), we learn about notable figures like Noah, Adam and Eve, but from their relatives and neighbors. Hahn wrote the book for the comedy (which is "based on a story by God").
Beginning will be the fourth production of the season at Willows. The season opened with Fiddler on the Roof, followed by My Sister Eileen and 1776. Next at the Concord playhouse will be Terrence McNally's Master Class Oct. 2 - Nov. 4 and the seasonal Christmas on the Mountain Nov. 13 - Dec. 31.
