The Actors Fund presents a special screening of the 2007 film The Band's Visit in a partnership with the Jacob Burns Film Center June 18 as a part of their ongoing film series, “Life on the Stage: Conversation and Film.” The screening follows the musical adaptation's victory at the 2018 Tony Awards, where the show earned ten wins including Best Musical.

The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the musical's Tony-winning creative team, including composer David Yazbek, book writer Itamar Moses, and producer Orin Wolf. The conversation will be moderated by Tony-winning producer Dori Berinstein.

The Band's Visit follows an Egyptian police band that is sent to a remote village in the middle of the Israeli desert after a mix-up at the border. With no bus until morning and no hotel in sight, these unlikely travelers are taken in by the locals. Under the spell of the desert sky, their lives become intertwined in the most unexpected ways.

As previously announced, Sasson Gabay, who stars as Tewfiq in the Israeli film, will reprise the role on stage beginning June 26 at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. The film's cast also includes Saleh Bakri, Ronit Elkabetz, and Uri Gavriel.

Though the June 18 screening is sold out, additional programming in the Actors Fund's “Life on the Stage” series will be announced later.
