In the video above the two actors strut their stuff on “Solid Silver Platform Shoes” during a 1975 broadcast of the Emmy-winning The Carol Burnett Show.
The song premiered in the 1974 Broadway musical The Magic Show, which featured a score by Stephen Schwartz and a book by Bob Randall.
Burnett received a Special Tony Award in 1969 for her Contributions to the Theatre. She was nominated for a Tony for her Once Upon a Mattress performance and again in 1996 for Moon Over Buffalo. With her late daughter Carrie Hamilton, Burnett wrote the 2002 Broadway comedy-drama Hollywood Arms, which was directed by Harold Prince.
Cher made her Broadway debut in 1982 in the role of Sissy in Ed Graczyk’s Come Back to the 5 & Dime Jimmy Dean, Jimmy Dean, a part she later repeated on film.
