It's a good thing Broadway's The Sunshine Boys is closing June 28. Star Tony Randall will need all the time he can get to care for his new son, Jefferson Salvini Randall, who was born on June 15. It is the second child for the actor and his wife Heather, 28.
The 7-pound, 2-ounce boy was named for famed American comic actor Joseph Jefferson (1829-1905), best known for his signature role of Rip Van Winkle, and Italian tragedian Tommaso Salvini (1829-1916), who once played Othello to Edwin Booth's Iago.
Neil Simon's comedy plays at the Lyceum Theatre -- home of the Randall founded National Actors Theatre. Previews of The Sunshine Boys began Nov. 29, 1997 for an opening Dec. 8.
