No confirmation was given May 27, during the press conference announcing the 41st edition of Spoleto's Festival Dei Due Mondi, of the alleged performance in the Central Italian town of Leonardo Di Caprio and/or Al Pacino. Festival director, maestro Gian Carlo Menotti, declared that he still had not received an answer from Di Caprio's agent to his proposal of bringing Titanic and Romeo and Juliet star to an Italian stage for a reading of Shakespeare poetry.
The 1998 programme of Spoleto's Festival, which will run June 26-July 12, includes Chinese director Zhang Yuan's latest show East Palace, West Palace, Lou Conte's Chicago Hubbard Street Dance company, which will perform a tribute to Frank Sinatra, and the Polish Carmen Funebre, directed by Pawel Szkotak, which talks about the atrocities of the recent war in Bosnia.
