Chicago's Steppenwolf Theatre Company is presenting Reuben Gonzalez' The Boiler Room May 2-17 as part of its Arts Exchange Program's 1997-98 "High School and Family Series."
The play -- which was presented in New York by the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre, earning actress Mariam Colon an Obie Award -- addresses loyalty, overwhelming loneliness, and a search for truth among the members of a troubled immigrant family in a rugged Latino neighborhood.
The cast includes Eric Aviles, Sandra Marquez, Laurie Martinez and Tony Ramos. Edward F. Torres will direct. The Boiler Room will be presented at Steppenwolf's Studio Theatre (1650 Halsted St.).
The Arts Exchange Program is designed to enrich the arts education offered in Chicago's public schools and to provide students with an appreciation of the arts.
