News Steppenwolf Casts The Christians and Straight White Men The Chicago theatre has announced casting for two upcoming productions, both previously seen Off-Broadway.

Steppenwolf Theatre Company has announced complete casting for its upcoming productions of Lucas Hnath’s The Christians and Straight White Men by Young Jean Lee—two plays that previously received acclaimed productions Off-Broadway.

The cast of The Christians, set to begin December 1 with direction by K. Todd Freeman, will feature Tom Irwin, Robert Breuler, Shannon Cochran, Glenn Davis and Jacqueline Williams. Steppenwolf’s Downstairs Theatre will be transformed into a church for the production and will feature a choir made up of Faith Howard, Yando Lopez, Jazelle Morriss, Mary-Margaret Roberts and Charlie Strater. Performances are scheduled to run through January 29, 2017.

In the Upstairs Theatre, Steppenwolf will stage Straight White Men, directed by Lee, February 2-March 19, 2017. The cast will be made up of Alan Wilder, Tim Hopper, Madison Dirks, Ryan Hallahan and Elliott Jenetopulos.

Steppenwolf recently kicked off its 41st anniversary season with the world premiere of Visiting Edna by David Rabe, with direction by artistic director Anna D. Shapiro. The production is now in previews and will play through November 6.
