Broadway Bound: The Musicals That Never Came to Broadway, celebrating shows that were scheduled to play the Main Stem but never opened, will be presented February 15 at 7 PM at 54 Below.
Produced and directed by Robert W. Schneider, the evening will feature the talents of Wicked and Pippin composer Stephen Schwartz, Major Attaway (Aladdin), LaDonna Burns (White Girl in Danger), Mike Cefalo (A Bronx Tale), Hilary Cole (Muriel’s Wedding), Erin Davie (Diana: The Musical), Roger Dawley (PawPatrol), Aaron Gooden (Assassins), Tony winner Debbie Gravitte (Jerome Robbins’ Broadway), A.J. Holmes (The Book of Mormon), Joe Iconis (Be More Chill), Bruce Landry (Anastasia), Kelly Lester (Cabaret), Timmy Lewis (A Class Act), Tony winner Richard Maltby, Jr. (Baby), T. Oliver Reid (Hadestown), Bryan George Rowell (The Great American Trailer Park Musical), and Mark William (Come Croon With Me).
Schneider and Backstage Babble's Charles Kirsch will emcee the evening, introducing performances and anecdotes from some of the show’s original cast and creators. Frederick Miller is the dramaturg, and Michael Lavine is the music director.
Attendees can expect to hear songs from Arthur: The Musical; The Country Wife; Daddy Goodness; Goodbye to Berlin; Home Again, Home Again; The Graduate; and more.
A portion of the evening’s proceeds will be donated to the Dramatists Guild.
